The Virginia Renaissance Faire was a renaissance fair located in Fredericksburg, Virginia between 1996 and 1999. It was run by Renaissance Entertainment Corporation (now called Renaissance Entertainment Productions), until it was closed after multiple seasons of operating at a loss at other renaissance faires owned by the company. The volunteers and paid performers weren't notified until after the end of the 1999 run that it would not be returning. It was reopened in 2002 by a group of volunteers from the closed Virginia Renaissance Faire called "Out Of The Woodwork Productions", in nearby Spotsylvania. That Faire opens each year on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend each year and runs for five weekends at the Lake Anna Winery. Today, the old site is overgrown, with many of the buildings still standing, though in poor repair.
